Pap Smear, HPV

This treatment is performed right in a doctor’s office and is performed to destroy cervical cells that have become dysplastic, abnormal, due to the Human Papillomavirus. These abnormal cells are killed from freezing them using a cryoprobe, which is placed at the cervical opening. Cervix cryosurgery may be used if a pap smear shows HPV.
