Leep Procedure
A leep procedure is sometimes used for treating ASCUS, but usually it is used for cervical dysplasia caused by human papilloma virus.
This treatment is normally done at a hospital. The loop eletrosurgical excision process is a surgical treatment for cervical dysplasia where a wire, with electricity running through it, is used to cut away areas of abnormal cells on the cervix.

Leep Procedure -
ASCUS, Human Papilloma Virus
The patients will have a follow-up exam about 4-6 weeks afterwards. It takes about 3-4 weeks for the cervix to heal after this process, in which women are instructed to refrain from intercourse, douching, and using tampons. This treatment process is mostly done for moderate or severe dysplasia. A leep procedure is sometimes used for treating ASCUS, but usually it is used for cervical dysplasia caused by human papilloma virus.
